Miami County Commissioners Oppose Proposed Transmission Line Through Miami County

Provided by the Miami County Board of Commissioners
TROY — The Miami County Board of Commissioners wants the people of Miami County to know where we stand on the proposed Grid Growth Ventures transmission project.

We do not want this transmission line routed through Miami County.

Grid Growth Ventures is currently working to finalize a proposed route for a major 765-
kilovolt transmission project that would extend approximately 190 miles across western and central Ohio. Miami County is one of the areas being considered for the route. The company has indicated that it expects to announce its proposed route before the end of August, with public hearings beginning later this fall. (gridgrowthventures.com) We believe it is important to make our position known before a route is selected, rather than waiting until the process is further along.

This is a significant project. A transmission line of this size could have a lasting impact on property owners, farmland, our communities and future development in Miami County. We understand Ohio has growing energy needs, but we do not believe Miami County should be the location for this project.

We have already begun working with State Representatives Jonathan Newman and Phil Plummer, and we will continue working with our state and local partners as this process moves forward.

We also want our residents and property owners to know that we will share information as soon as we receive it. As soon as the proposed route is made public, we will make that information available and help ensure our residents understand how they can participate in the public process.

The Commissioners recognize that the final decision on a major transmission project is part of the state regulatory process. Our responsibility is to represent Miami County and
make our position known clearly and early.

Our position is straightforward: We do not want the Grid Growth transmission project coming through Miami County, and we will work with our residents and our state representatives to oppose a route through our county.

We will continue to keep the citizens of Miami County informed as more information becomes available.
