March Drawing Room Chamber Concert Features Vocalists Devlan Taylor and Jarrod Davis

TROY - The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will present bass vocalist Devlan Taylor accompanied by Emily McConkie on piano for the Drawing Room Chamber Concert Series on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 7:30 pm Devlan Taylor received his master’s degree in Vocal Performance at the University of North Dakota. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Dayton, where he teaches private voice lessons, Aural Skills, and Beginner Voice Class. He also works at Stivers School for the Arts as an adjunct voice instructor and is heavily involved with the Children’s Performing Arts of Miamisburg. Devlan has performed in over 7 operas, toured Italy with the Collegiate Choral, traveled and performed in over 50 concerts with Ethos, Wright State’s premier a cappella group, and participated in band and other choirs. Since graduating, he has performed as a member of the Dayton Opera Chorus in various operas at the Schuster Center in Dayton, Ohio, and as a featured soloist for Musica, a professional choir. Devlan obtained his Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of North Dakota in 2021. During his time at UND, he performed with the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, the Grand Forks Chorales, and the University of North Dakota’s Opera Program.

Performing with Devlan will be Jarrod Davis. Jarrod Davis Jr. graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor Degree of Music in Vocal Performance. He then pursued graduate studies at Bowling Green State University, graduating with a master’s degree in Vocal Performance. Jarrod recently returned to the Dayton area and currently teaches at Stivers School for the Arts in addition to The Piano Prep School. He is a member of the Dayton Opera Chorus. His most notable roles include Mr. Sankey from Street Scene, Giorgio from The Gondoliers, Pirate King from Pirates of Penzance, and Marius Pontmercy from Les Misérables.
Pianist Emily McConkie, a native of Illinois, began her over 30-year journey as a pianist by begging her parents for piano lessons at age 5. She discovered collaborative piano at age 15 accompanying her high school and church choirs in Arizona. Emily earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Brigham Young University where she continued collaborative work for student recitals, NATS competitors, church choirs, and a local voice studio. In 2012, she returned to Arizona with her own young family and became a collaborative pianist for her alma mater choral program and Mesa Community College. Since relocating to Ohio in 2018, she has enjoyed collaborative work with the University of Dayton Chorale and vocal studios as well as various school and community music groups. Performances have taken her coast-to-coast in the US and Puerto Rico.

The Drawing Room Chamber Concert Series takes place on the last Tuesday of most months in the school year. This season the series will be hosted by Eric Knorr. Eric is an accomplished soloist, a collaborative musician and an educator. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Trumpet in the Department of Music at the University of Dayton.
