Food Assistance Available Through 211.org Amid Federal Shutdown
Information from the United Way

MIAMI COUNTY — As the federal government shutdown continues, millions of Americans are experiencing delays or interruptions in their SNAP benefits, with families in Miami County among those affected.

In response, United Way Worldwide and the U.S. 211 Network have launched a new tool to help residents struggling with food insecurity.

Residents can visit 211.org and enter their ZIP code to find local food pantries, community meals, and emergency food assistance. They can also call 211 to speak with a trained specialist who can connect them to resources in Miami County.

The initiative is part of a national effort to strengthen the 211 system and ensure no one faces a crisis alone.

“Our communities are counting on us,” said Angela F. Williams, president and CEO of United Way Worldwide. “Together, we will continue to be the strong backbone of community support that the American people need.”

Local officials said the effort helps ensure residents have access to assistance when they need it most.

Anyone in need of food support can visit 211.org or dial 211 for help.
