COVINGTON - A frontier trading village from the late 1700s and early 1800s will come to life this weekend at Covington Community Park during the annual Fort Rowdy Gathering.

The event is set for Sept. 5-7 and will feature open-fire cooking, homemade foods, arts and crafts, historical demonstrations, contests, games and entertainment reflecting early American frontier life.

Visitors can also cross a 208-foot portable footbridge spanning the Stillwater River to reach mountain man encampments depicting the lifestyle and traditions of the era.

The gathering will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. Admission is free.
