Downtown Troy to Sparkle with Holiday Magic at the Grand Illumination on November 28

Information provided by Troy Main Street

TROY — The magic of the holiday season will come to life in downtown Troy on Friday, Nov. 28, as the community gathers for the annual Grand Illumination.

The evening will be filled with festive music, family fun, holiday shopping, and the breathtaking moment when Troy’s beautiful downtown tree lights up the Public Square. Visitors are invited to arrive early to shop and dine locally before the festivities begin. Downtown businesses will feature holiday specials, warm drinks, and one-of-a-kind gifts, making it the perfect opportunity to support small businesses while soaking in the season’s cheer.

The Santa House, proudly sponsored by Kettering Health Network, will open its doors for the first time this season, giving children the chance to visit Santa and share their Christmas wishes. Guests can also enjoy the magic of horse and carriage rides, made possible by T-Mobile Fiber, offering a charming way to take in the twinkling lights of downtown.

Meanwhile, the Abbey Credit Union Entertainment Stage will feature live music, spreading cheer throughout the evening as families gather to enjoy the sounds of the season.

As the clock nears 7 p.m., anticipation will build as Santa arrives in the Public Square and makes his way to the stage for the highlight of the evening: the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree, an unforgettable moment that marks the official start of the holiday season in Troy.

After the tree is lit, the celebration continues with more live and DJ’d music, activities, and festive fun throughout the square until 8:30 p.m., with Santa greeting families in the Santa House until 9:30 p.m.

“Our Grand Illumination captures everything we love about Troy: community, joy, and tradition,” said Amy Breinich, executive director of Troy Main Street. “It’s a night where families make memories, downtown shines its brightest, and the spirit of the holidays truly comes alive.”

This year’s tree is donated by the Walker family, co-owners of Atlantic Welding in Piqua, Ohio. The Troy community is grateful for their generous donation of the beautiful tree that will be the centerpiece of downtown Christmas.

Troy Main Street extends heartfelt thanks to all who make this cherished event possible, including event sponsors Kettering Health Network, Abbey Credit Union, and T-Mobile Fiber, as well as annual sponsors Clopay Corporation, Premier Health Network, Upper Valley Hearing & Balance, Alvetro Orthodontics, and Excellence in Dentistry, and more.

This event takes countless volunteer hours and coordination with several local businesses like PSC Crane & Rigging, David Fair on the Square, RT Industries, NightScape, AES Ohio, Habitat for Humanity of Miami & Shelby Counties, and most importantly, the many departments at the City of Troy who make this Christmas magic happen.
