Proposed Route Coming Soon for Major West Ohio Power Project that Could Impact Miami County; Public Hearings Planned

TROY - Grid Growth Ventures has provided additional information regarding the timeline for public engagement for its West Central Ohio Power Transmission Project.
Grid Growth representatives said they are in the final stages of identifying the proposed route for the transmission line project through Western Ohio. The company intends to complete the proposed route before the end of August and make it available for public review.
Grid Growth officials said public hearings are expected to be held in all affected counties beginning in late September 2026.
The update follows a July 2 briefing for representatives of the Miami County Commissioners' Office, Miami County Engineer and Miami County Department of Development.
During the July briefing, Grid Growth described the purpose of the project, route options under consideration, and project milestones and timeline.
The project involves construction of approximately 190 miles of 765-kilovolt transmission lines from Darke County in western Ohio to Guernsey County in eastern Ohio. Potential route options include portions of Shelby and Miami counties.
Meetings with local officials and letters to property owners took place throughout July as the initial phase of public outreach. Formal public hearings were previously expected to begin later in 2026 and continue into 2027.
Pending approval from the Ohio Power Siting Board, construction could begin in 2028.
The Miami County Commissioners' Office has emphasized the importance of transparency among all stakeholders and the local community throughout the project.
