Ohio Election Law Changes Affect Absentee Ballots

TROY — The Miami County Board of Elections is reminding voters of recent changes to Ohio election law affecting vote-by-mail and absentee ballots.

   Under the new rules, absentee ballots generally must be received by the Board of Elections no later than 7:30 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. The date a ballot is postmarked is no longer the determining factor.
 

   The rule applies to vote-by-mail and absentee ballots, with an exception for military and overseas voters. Ballots from those voters may be received up to four days after Election Day.

The Board of Elections is advising voters who use absentee ballots to allow enough time for their ballots to be received by the Election Day deadline. LEARN MORE
