Miami County Commissioners, Sheriff Announce Public Jail Tour Schedule
Information from the Board of Miami County Commissioners
TROY — The Miami County Commissioners, in partnership with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, are opening the county jail for a series of public tours beginning in January 2026. These guided tours are designed to give residents a firsthand look at current jail conditions, operational challenges, and the security needs facing the facility.

“Our goal is simple: provide facts, provide access, and let people see the reality for themselves,” said the Miami County Commissioners. “We want the public to have a clear understanding of the condition of our jail and the needs that come with operating a secure, legally compliant facility.”
Tours will be led by Sheriff Dave Duchak and staff, with commissioners available for questions. Community members will walk through living areas, intake spaces, and key operational points of the building to better understand current limitations, safety concerns, and the pressures driving the need for long-term planning.
“These tours are an opportunity for residents to see the day-to-day reality of jail operations,” said Dave Duchak, Miami County sheriff. “Transparency is important and we welcome the community inside to understand the challenges we face.”
