Miami Valley Veterans Museum to Host Veterans Day Breakfast Nov. 12
Information provided
TROY— The Miami Valley Veterans Museum (MVVM) will host its Veterans Day Breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the museum, located at 2245 S. County Road 25A in Troy. Doors open at 8 a.m., with the program scheduled from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

The event is open to all veterans and invited guests. A full breakfast will be provided by the Miami County Veterans Service Office, which proudly sponsors the November breakfast.
The featured speaker will be Miami County Commissioner Greg Simmons, a U.S. Navy veteran who served four years and was deployed overseas three times during the Vietnam conflict. Simmons was first elected county commissioner in 2016 and re-elected in 2020. He is a graduate of Piqua Central High School and Edison State Community College’s first graduate. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Wright State University and Parkersburg Bible College.

Simmons is the founder and retired senior pastor of The Upper Room Worship Center and has more than 25 years of experience directing government agencies, including 14 years as director of the West Central Juvenile Facility. He and his wife live in Tipp City and have six children and 13 grandchildren.

Please note that the museum typically holds its monthly veterans breakfast on the first Wednesday of each month. However, due to Election Day activities, the November breakfast will take place on the second Wednesday to coincide more closely with Veterans Day.

For the past two years, the museum has served as a polling location on Election Day, keeping volunteers on site late into the evening to prepare for the following morning’s breakfast. Moving this year’s event allows time for setup and provides relief for the museum’s dedicated volunteers.
