TROY – Don’t let summer fly by without investing in your child’s future through WACO Education Center & Air Museum Summer Camps! A variety of STEM camps (aviation, engineering, and robotics) will be offered this summer to students in grades 1-8. All camps will be held at the WACO Air Museum, 1865 S County Rd 25A, Troy, OH 45373.
“We are thrilled to offer such a robust line-up of camps for students in the Miami Valley area,” said Nancy Royer, executive director of WACO. “These camps can be pivotal in a child’s life, offering fun, friendship, and inspiring future careers!”
BEGINNING ROBOTICS CAMP (5th -6th grade) June 9-13, 7-8:30 pm
This camp will introduce campers to LEGO robotics programming as they explore the world of Robotics.
INTERMEDIATE ROBOTICS CAMP (6th -9th grade) June 16-20, 7-8:30 pm
This camp levels up students' programming skills as they work with instructors to go beyond the basics. Great for anyone on a robotics team or interested in joining one next year!
AVIATION SUMMER ACADEMY (5th -8th grade), June 9-12, 9 am -2 pm
This 5-day course will enrich our students’ science and technology base by exposing them to all things aviation. Through hands-on learning and fun, we will walk them through the history, theory, and science of aviation. Ground school instruction and simulators prepare them for an introductory flight in a real airplane. Whether this sparks their interest in a future aviation career or just deepens their knowledge and love of all things flying, our Aviation Summer Academy is an invaluable experience!
DRONE CAMP I (4th -6th grades) August 5-7 9 am-12 pm
DRONE CAMP II (7th -9th grades) August 5-7 1 pm-4 pm
Campers will learn about the exciting technologies and uses of drones. They will fly simulators and real aircraft, program flights, conduct missions, and analyze airborne collected data. Aerial obstacle courses and scavenger hunts will add fun elements to their learning experience.
FUN WITH FLIGHT (1st -3rd grades) July 7-11 9 am-11 am
With young aviators in mind, this camp uses a collection of STEM learning activities based on aviation-themed children’s books. Hands-on activities will engage your child as they make discoveries from a glider’s form and function to an airplane's force and thrust. Our little campers have so much fun that they don’t even realize how much they are learning!
YOUNG ENGINEERS CAMP (3rd-5th grades) June 24-26 9 am-12 pm
Do you have a curious 3rd-5th grader who wonders how things work? Does he/she take things apart or enjoy designing and building? If so, we have designed a camp just for them. This camp will give your young dreamer a chance to engage both their brain and hands simultaneously! This is a project-based learning environment where experimentation is encouraged.
ROLL INTO ROBOTICS CAMP (3rd-4th grades) June 17-19, 9-11 am
This camp is for students entering grades 3-4 who would like to explore robotics! They will be introduced to the world of robotics and programming using Sphero robots!
WACO Education Center & Air Museum’s mission is to prepare and inspire future generations with S.T.E.M. and aviation education, fostering personal growth and professional development, while preserving the WACO aviation legacy.
