Miami County Announces Water/Sewer Rate Adjustments for 2026

Information provided

TROY - The Board of Miami County Commissioners, upon the recommendation of the Sanitary Engineering Department, has approved rate changes in 2026 for both sewer and water services. The adjustments apply only to base rates. By limiting the changes to base rates, the Board continues to reduce the percentage Miami County customers pay compared to in-city customers.

The Board of Miami County Commissioners remains committed to keeping utility rates as low as possible for County residents. After reviewing several factors — including total customers, debt totals, and daily operations costs — it was determined that the adjustments represent the minimum necessary to keep Miami County in compliance with current water and sewer contracts.

As part of a collaborative effort led by the Board of Commissioners in conjunction with the City of Troy, the water rate for Miami County customers on the City of Troy system will be reduced by 2.5%, with continued reductions agreed to systematically over the next ten years.

The specific rate changes for 2026 are as follows:

  • Troy Water System: 2.5% decrease

  • Tipp City Water System: No change

  • Clark County Water System: 3% increase (residents will see a monthly increase of $0.76)

  • Troy Sewer System: 5% increase (residents will see a monthly increase of $1.29)

  • Clark County Sewer System: 3% increase (residents will see a monthly increase of $0.88)

  • Tipp City and Piqua Sewer Systems: No change

These adjustments mirror the rate changes being passed on by the corresponding municipalities.

The Board continues an ongoing review of current contracts with neighboring municipalities for the purchase of water and the treatment of sewage to ensure the best value for residents. The Board also continues to monitor debt obligations to maintain a financially sound utility system.
