Piqua Coffee Shop to Celebrate National Poetry Month on Saturday

PIQUA — Area poets will gather Saturday, April 25, at 4 p.m. at North Star Coffee Station, 655 N. Main St., to celebrate National Poetry Month and the role poetry plays in their lives.

   Featured at the event is Cathryn Essinger of Troy, a former Ohio Poet of the Year and professor at Edison State Community College. Essinger recently published her sixth poetry collection, Telling the Bees.

 

   Additional readings will be given by area poets Myrna Stone, Debra Williamson and Jane Kretschmann, highlighting the depth of literary talent in the Miami Valley.

 

   Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in an open mic and share their own poetry. All are welcome.
