Miami County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Serious Crash Involving Vehicle into Occupied Home

STAUNTON TWP. – At approximately 8:47 a.m. this morning (June 6), Miami County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Troy Fire Department responded to a serious traffic crash in the 2200 block of S. State Route 202, Staunton Township, near Troy.

Initial reports indicate that a vehicle left the roadway and crashed into an occupied residence, entering the interior of the structure. The driver, an 18-year-old female, was entrapped in the vehicle and required extrication by emergency personnel. She was transported by squad to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her injuries are still being assessed at this time.
Fortunately, no occupants of the home were injured during the incident. However, the residence sustained extensive structural damage as a result of the impact.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the female driver was involved in a prior incident earlier this morning in the City of Troy, where she reportedly left a location after expressing suicidal ideation. Investigators are actively working to determine whether the crash was intentional.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the crash, including the possibility of criminal violations related to the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the incident.
