City of Troy Seeks Volunteers Water Sampling Studies
Information from the City of Troy

TROY - Our Water Treatment staff could use YOUR help–and just a few minutes of your time! We are looking for households to participate in two upcoming sampling studies. By analyzing water from inside households in Troy, our staff can demonstrate and ensure water quality to meet state standards.

We are looking for participants that meet the following criteria:

• City of Troy resident (within city limits) with water service provided by the City of Troy

• Home built before 1989

• Willingness to collect samples at 6 month intervals

There is no cost to residents for sampling.

The collection process works as follows:

• WTP staff will drop off a sample bottle and paperwork including instructions

• The resident will need to fill the bottle after the tap hasn't been used for six hours (first thing in the morning or after returning home from work or school would be great!), and will fill out brief documentation about the sample

• WTP staff will collect a filled bottle and completed paperwork (usually in the morning or after the workday)

• WTP staff will communicate results back to residents

   The results do not require any action by the resident, but will provide information to the resident about the water in their household tap. Sampling is expected to begin in July or August.
